Q.Hello. Why is it that a steam railway locomotive has to skid its driver wheels after it has moved of from stations. Thank you
A.The locomotive's reciprocating power has to be directly applied to the rail from 0 rpm upwards and due to load sharing across wheels they tend to slip.
