Q.What is the name for a sound which gives the illusion of a constantly rising pitch through the use of the same note in different octaves and how is it done

A.A Shepard tone uses sounds an octave apart to sound like a rising pitch. It's done by having instruments or sound waves playing a C-scale and then dropping an octave in turns whilst the others rise. You can hear a variation of this, a Shepard-Risset glissando, at the end of Pink Floyd's Echoes.
