63336 suggests gifts for famous fathers from famous children
17 June 2011
19 June 2011 is Father's Day, that special day of the year when fathers around the world are given ties, pens and socks as a token of love and appreciation. However, are such gifts sufficient for famous fathers, especially when they have famous children? 63336 investigates some famous British fathers and their celebrated children and makes some suggestions for appropriate gifts.
Paul McCartney, famous for being a Beatle and extremely rich, probably has everything a man could ever want, including a lot of ties. His daughter Stella McCartney is famous for being a fashion designer. She could whip him up a cool jacket for his next inevitable music award appearance.
Keith Allen, noted for acting, presenting and his comic work, must be very proud of the accomplishments of his singing star daughter Lily Allen. A singing greetings card belting out one of Lily's hits would be just the tonic for Keith on Father's Day.
Johnny Ball, the man famous for his nutty professor style of presenting on shows like Think of a Number and Johnny Ball Reveals All, will no doubt be expecting a visit from famous radio presenter Zoƫ Ball on 19 June. A DVD box set of MythBusters would no doubt delight the science buff.
William Roache, who gained his fame as Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, is the father of Linus Roache, who appeared in Batman Begins, Law & Order and had a brief guest role in Coronation Street. What could Linus buy a man who has appeared in the same soap for over 50 years? A subscription to satellite television of course.
Harry Redknapp is the current manager of Tottenham Hotspur and has just experienced a great season, taking his team to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. His footballer son, Jamie Redknapp, enjoyed a career which included stints at both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. A copy of Managing My Life, the autobiography by Sir Alex Ferguson, could make for an interesting gift.
Prince Charles is famous for being the Queen's eldest son and for talking to plants. His sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, both enjoy considerable worldwide fame. Perhaps William and Harry should club together and buy their father an iPad. For a man often accused of being out of touch of modern life, carrying this around would improve one's street cred somewhat.
Mick Jagger can expect a veritable bounty of presents on Father's Day; the Rolling Stones frontman has 7 children, including the models Jade Jagger and Elizabeth Jagger. Considering their father's reputation and penchant for beautiful women, what more could Jade and Elizabeth do for their dad on Father's Day than invite some of their model friends around for Sunday dinner with the leather-trousered lothario?
63336 wishes doting dads everywhere a happy Father's Day.
